Community Autism Navigator Programme
We train local caregivers and community health volunteers as "Autism Navigators" the first point of contact for families noticing early signs in their child. Navigators are equipped to recognise early indicators, offer basic guidance, and refer families to formal screening and services, closing the gap in districts with no specialist access.
Caregiver Support & Economic Empowerment Circles
Monthly support circles that combine two things families told us they need together: peer emotional support and practical skills-building in childhood development and communication, alongside training in small-scale income-generating activities (e.g. tailoring, poultry-rearing, savings groups) so caregiving and household income aren't pulling families in opposite directions.
Inclusive Classrooms & Teacher Training Project
We train teachers in autism-inclusive classroom practice, support the creation of individual learning plans, and advocate directly with school administration so autistic children can stay in mainstream education rather than being excluded from it.
The Wandegeya Autism Support & Resource Centre
A permanent, purpose-built space at our Wandegeya location sensory room, dedicated therapy rooms, a parent resource library, and training space serving as the physical home for every other programme on this list.
Breaking the Silence — Community Awareness Campaign
Radio segments in Luganda and English, community dialogues with local council and religious leaders, and locally distributed awareness materials shifting understanding at the community level so families feel safe seeking help instead of hiding a diagnosis.
Assistive Communication (AAC) & Visual Supports Fund
We provide low-tech AAC starter kits (picture-exchange cards, communication boards) as the primary offering, with tablet-based AAC provided selectively where training and follow-up support can be sustained plus training for families and teachers on how to use them.
Vocational & Life Skills Pathway for Young Adults
A life-skills and job-readiness programme for autistic teens and young adults communication, daily living, and workplace-readiness training built with local employer partners willing to offer placements.
Family Bursary & Basic Needs Support Fund
Bursaries covering school fees and therapy costs, plus a small basic-needs top-up, for families who cannot otherwise afford either giving individual donors a concrete "sponsor a family" product while aligning with where national policy is already heading.
